Sanrio Fun in Taipei: A Kawaii Lover’s Guide!

Hello Lovely!

I’ve had a few folks ask me for Sanrio-themed activities while in Taipei so I thought I’d put together a list! These are my recommendations for things a Sanrio-lover can’t miss when visiting Taipei. It is mostly shopping-related but would you expect anything less?

Shopping

Taipei 101 Apple Village

If you love cute, exclusive items, you won’t want to miss this pop-up at Taipei 101. Located just before the observation deck, Sanrio has a cute little shop named Apple Village. If you spend enough, you might get a free gift. Additionally, if you dig around their rice pit and find specific colored balls, you may also win a gift! This cute little shop was definitely worth visiting.

Toy Stage

Toy Stage has a bunch of really cool toys. The first floor is full of gachapon machines, and the second floor includes individual toys available for purchase. I bought a few Godzilla items for Fletch and got a bunch of Sanrio gachapon toys for myself. If you are going to be in the area, I definitely recommend checking out this shop. Note: This place only accepts cash, so be sure to swing by a 7-Eleven to make a withdrawal before heading to this shop.

7-Eleven & Family Mart Stores

I found that a bunch of the 7-Eleven and Family Mart stores had Sanrio items. If you happen to pass one, I suggest popping in to see what you find.

Sanrio 7-Eleven

Taipei has two Sanrio-themed 7-Elevens, and they are within walking distance of each other!! This location has a large Hello Kitty statue in the front (see photo) and some cute exclusive merchandise. I believe this location is close to one of the train stations. I suggest starting here then walking to the other 7-Eleven locations.

Sanrio 7-Eleven

This is the second Sanrio 7-Eleven location. Each store has different merchandise, so I definitely recommend checking out both if you can. The walk between the two locations is about 10 minutes.

FunBox Toy Store Outlet

This shop has a bunch of really cute Sanrio items. The items are a little older, from the past few years, and all pretty fairly priced. I was really excited to find items that I missed when they first came out. If you are a Sanrio lover, I definitely recommend making the trip to FunBox.

Taipei City Mall

This underground mall was so cool that my friend and I went twice! There are a ton of shops and hundreds of gachapon machines. Definitely a fun spot to check out.

Komonoya Gift Shop

This shop has a bunch of Sanrio items. I didn’t get to visit during my last trip, but the photos on Google make it seem worth visiting. If you go, let me know what you think!

Taipei’s Nanjing Fuxing MRT station

I’m personally a sucker for an exclusive item so when I learned that there was a Sanrio pop-up at Nanjing Fuxing station, I had to check it out! There is a cute photo spot and a shop where you can find adorable, exclusive items.

Bonny & Read

Bonny & Read is a jewelry store that has done several Sanrio collaborations. The prices are very affordable, so if you’re looking for a cute, affordable piece of jewelry, this might be the spot.

2sweet

If you are looking for high-quality and beautiful jewelry, 2sweet might be the shop for you! They have various Sanrio pieces, and they are all gorgeous! This store is a little on the pricier side, but if you’re looking for a long-lasting and classy souvenir, this is the spot to visit.

Story+

Story+ has some AMAZING Sanrio jewelry. It is a little more expensive but soo cute. A word of advice: this place requires an appointment and is only open Monday – Friday. You can message them via Facebook to make an appointment. I ended up not getting to visit because I was heading home, but it looks very cute.

Lucy’s

Lucy’s is a jewelry store that also frequently collaborates with Sanrio. If you are visiting Taiwan, I recommend checking the Lucy website to see if there is anything you want to pick up. There are several locations within Taipei, so you should be able to find one that you can visit. Doesn’t hurt to stop in.

Taipei Taoyuan International Airport, Terminal 1

If your flight home is flying out of Taoyuan International Airport, be sure to find Terminal 1 so you can see the Sanrio store and gate! The shop is AMAZING and includes a bunch of Taiwan-specific souvenirs. Save some space in your carry-on so you can buy a few treasures.

Food & Coffee

KiraBase

When I visited Taipei, Kirabase was Sanrio-themed. My friend and I had fun visiting and enjoyed the food we had. I’m keeping this on the list so you can double-check the website to see what the theme is when you visit to decide if you want to visit. We made a reservation online for our visit.

Red Sakura

If you love Sanrio and sweet treats, you have to swing by Red Sakura!! Red Sakura sells cookies, pineapple cakes, etc., in very cute Sanrio-themed tins. Some of their items can be found at places like T&T Supermarket and 99 Ranch Market in the states but it is fun to see their store in person.

Museum 50 Coffee

This coffee shop has a ton of character. The interior of the coffee shop is really fun and includes a scooter, a Volkswagen bug, books, knickknacks, and, of course, they have their own exclusive merch. On top of that, the staff was super kind. I highly recommend it. This isn’t Sanrio-themed, but it was cute and yummy, so I thought I’d include it in the list.

I hope you enjoyed my list of Sanrio-themed suggestions. If you visit Taipei, I hope you love it as much as I did! Let me know if you have any spots I should add to this list. 🩷
